FREE Learn to Skate – Glen Innes Skatepark | Youth Week 2026

Glen Innes, we’re rolling in for Youth Week 2026!

Join us at Glen Innes Skatepark for a fun, welcoming day of skateboarding, learning new skills, and connecting with your local community. Whether you’re brand new to skating or ready to take things to the next level, our pro skate team will be there to guide you every step of the way.

Thanks to Glen Innes Severn Council event is completely free and open to all ages 6 years and up. Supported by Joblink Plus.

What to expect?

We’re running two sessions designed to support all skill levels:

Beginner Learn to Skate Session
Perfect for first-timers or those still finding their feet. Learn the basics in a supportive and fun environment.

Intermediate Mentoring Session
For skaters who already have the foundations and are ready to progress, learn tricks, and build confidence at the skatepark.

This is all about bringing the Glen Innes community together, building confidence, and creating a fun, safe space for young people to get involved in skateboarding.

SCHEDULE

11:00 am: Event opening

11:00 am - 11:15 am: Beginner class registration

11:15 am - 12:15 pm: Beginner class (1hr class. Suitable for newcomer and beginner skaters with little to no experience on a board and at a skatepark.)

12:15 pm - 12:20 pm: Skate Demo

12:20 pm - 12:30 pm: Community Interaction

12:30 pm - 12:45 pm: Mentoring Session for Intermediate Skaters registration

12:45 pm - 1:45 pm: Mentoring Session for Intermediate Skaters (1hr class. Suitable for skaters that know the foundational skills and want to start exploring tricks and advance to the next level.)

1:45 pm - 2:00 pm: Community Interaction / Close program hand out Stickers

WAIVER FORM - Participants must complete our online waiver form here before they can skate. Please try to have this done before you get to the skatepark.

Spots are limited and bookings are essential via Eventbrite.

ABOUT THE LEARN TO SKATE CLASSES

We believe in having a go, so students are encouraged to go at their own pace under the guidance of our coaches. By combining both the physical and creative elements of skateboarding, Totem gives students the opportunity to try out and practice a wide and unique variety of skills to build self-esteem in a fun, safe, and supported environment.

WHAT CLASS SHOULD I REGISTER FOR?

We have created this simple guide to help you decide what class will be best suited for you/your child.

Our beginner class is for skill level 0 to 1 and the intermediate class and self-expression jam session is for skill level 2 to 3.

Level 0 - The Newcomer

New to skateboarding and has no experience. Might have had a go but uncomfortable.

Level 1 - Beginner

Has skated a few times, limited experience, and needs to build confidence and skillset

Level 2 - Transition into Intermediate

Knows the foundational skills and wants to start exploring tricks.

Level 3 - Intermediate

Is confident on a skateboard, knows the foundational skills, a few tricks, and wants to advance to the next level.

WAIVER FORM - Participants must complete our online waiver form herebefore they can skate. Please try to have this done before you get to the skatepark.

Spots are limited, and bookings are essential via our Eventbrite page.

* This is an outdoor event. Postponement and cancellation is subject to weather conditions and can happen anywhere from 48 hours to 2 hours before a workshop. We cannot skate in the rain or on wet grounds.

Equipment: Professional grade Skateboard, helmet, and safety pads (optional) are provided for all classes. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment.
